Dia de Los Muertos

Since 2006, we have collaborated with Hospice Brazos Valley's "Dia de Los Muertos: A Celebration of Life".  The activities usually include an arts workshop in September and then on the Saturday closest to Dia de Los Muertos, celebrations and displays around downtown Bryan..

The date for the free art workshop in September  2009 is not yet decided. Please check back for details or sign up for a reminder. Plans for the workshop include learning traditional art forms associated with Dia de Los Muertos such as: decorating a sugar skull, creating a reverse glass painting, making tissue paper marigolds, etc. Examples of ofrendas (traditional altars that honor and memorialize loved ones who have died) will be shown.  Artists are encouraged to participate by attending this free workshop or exploring the theme on their own.

Dia de Los Muertos artwork and traditional craft forms will then be displayed at The Frame Gallery and in other locations around downtown.
